Achieving your full potential in 2018
A brand new year has
started. It’s an opportunity to start afresh and set some resolutions. This is the year that
you’re going to push yourself to achieve your full potential. You’re ready to
set your resolutions for 2018. This might be committing to saving more, to
exercising regularly, to reading more. The only problem is that you’re not sure
where to start. Furthermore, you’re not sure what resolutions will help you to
achieve your potential. It’s at times such as this that we need to take
external guidance.
Finding your mentor
One way to discovering the
steps needed to achieve your full potential is via a mentor. Mentors can be
anyone that is further down your life path. Your mentor can be a teacher,
colleague, boss, family member or friend. Furthermore, you aren’t limited to a
single mentor.
Mentors are someone you can
consult with and gain insight and guidance from. Typically, they’ve been in
your position before. Finding a mentor doesn’t require any sort of formal
process. Instead, the mentor - mentee relationship should develop naturally
over time.
Once you’ve identified the
person or people that could be your mentor then arrange to meet up. This could
be over lunch, drinks, dinner or coffee. However, the point is to meet up
regularly and have real and meaningful conversations. For the relationship to
work you should feel comfortable seeking guidance and advice from your mentor.
Other forms of guidance
If you’re not comfortable
finding a mentor or cannot find anyone appropriate then there are alternatives.
For example, there are many examples of psychometric tests that you can take.
Examples include the Harrison test or the Myers-Briggs test. Alternatively
there are numerology tests.
The idea of these tests is
to provide guidance. The test outputs makes recommendations such as how to
communicate with others, what sort of situations to avoid and guidance towards
a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
